Iraq-Baghdadi & Saqlawiya-Electricity Sector Reconstruction Project (Phase III)

Matelec is currently executing two new substations—Baghdadi and Saqlawiya—as part of the Electricity Sector Reconstruction Project (Phase III), in collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity in Iraq. The scope includes the design, civil works, manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning of the 132/33/11kV substations. The contract, signed on January 14, 2025, is funded by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).
Now underway, this project marks a significant step in strengthening Iraq’s power infrastructure—particularly in the Al Anbar region, which has been severely affected in recent years. The new substations aim to improve electricity reliability, increase capacity, and support long-term development in the area.
