Matelec, E&C Division is currently executing the project “Al Balad 2” in collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity in Salah al-Din Governorate in Iraq. The contract, signed on April 26, 2024, is funded by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).

This project includes the design, civil works, manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning of the 132/33kV Al Balad 2 substation. Additionally, it involves the supply of a 63MVA 132/33kV mobile substation.

The Director General, Eng. Khaled Ghazi, visited the site to inspect the final stages of work and evaluate progress. He was accompanied by Eng. Safaa Rashid, Director of the Salah al-Din Electricity Network Branch.

As part of the Electricity Sector Reconstruction Project (II) supported by JICA ODA Loans, this initiative aims to alleviate the region’s strained power situation and enhance the reliability of power supply. These improvements are expected to contribute to regional socio-economic development and an improved quality of life.
