Al Balad 2 Substation – Completion | Iraq

Matelec’s Engineering & Contracting Division is proud to announce the successful and ahead-of-schedule completion of the Al Balad 2 Substation Project in collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity in Salah al-Din Governorate, Iraq.
Funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the project covered the design, civil works, manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning of a 132/33kV substation, as well as the supply of a 63MVA 132/33kV mobile substation.

Delivered before the contractual deadline, this achievement reflects Matelec’s long-standing reputation for on-time performance, technical excellence, and turnkey execution capabilities.

Executed under the Electricity Sector Reconstruction Project (Phase II) supported by JICA ODA Loans, the initiative further strengthens Matelec’s contribution to enhancing Iraq’s power infrastructure, improving grid reliability, and supporting socio-economic development across the region.
